FARGO (AP) - The owner of a Cass County salvage yard that state health officials say has contamination problems says he is having six semitrailer loads of junked cars removed.

David Habiger hasn't yet dealt with a patch of dirt contaminated by spilled oil or an estimated 200 old tires cited as worries.

Health inspectors have told Habiger he must take corrective actions to be in compliance with state environmental laws. The owner of Dave's Auto Parts west of Amenia says he's working on it.

Health officials inspected the salvage yard in May after obtaining a court order. Habiger was arrested for obstruction of the legal process and resisting arrest.

Scott Radig, the state's director of waste management, says the contamination at the salvage yard is not an emergency, and not serious enough for fines.
