FARGO (AP) - Fargo police say they have arrested a suspect in a credit union robbery.
Sgt. Jeff Skuza identified the man as Denver Lee Tergesen, 24, of Fargo. Tergesen was arrested in Detroit Lakes, Minn., about five hours after the First Community Credit Union was robbed in a strip mall near Interstate 94, Skuza said.
Police said the suspect was armed with what was believed to be a handgun.
Skuza said police do not believe he is connected to a Tuesday afternoon robbery at a Jamestown bank.
"We don't believe they're connected at this time. The descriptions just don't match up," Skuza said.
Fargo officers found a vehicle that was described by witnesses as leaving the scene of a robbery. While police were searching the neighborhood, they said they got a report of a stolen car that at been left running and unlocked at a nearby restaurant.
After police got reports that the suspect was heading east, Tergesen was arrested in Detroit Lakes, about 50 miles from Fargo. Cash believed to be from the robbery was recovered in Fargo and Detroit Lakes, Skuza said.
