GRAND FORKS (AP) - University of North Dakota vice president for general administration Phil Harmeson has applied to be the school's next president.
Harmeson, senior associate for retiring President Charles Kupchella, has worked at UND for nearly a quarter century.
Harmeson, 54, is the second internal candidate for the presidency, joining Aerospace Dean Bruce Smith. Applications are being accepted through Monday.
The state Board of Higher Education plans to name a president in February. The person will take office July 1.
