Barnes County wants roads fixed
VALLEY CITY (AP) - Barnes County commissioners want a wind farm developer to fix roads damaged by transporting heavy equipment.
The proposal would require FPL Energy LLC to repair a 15-mile stretch on a county road known as Peak Road. The company had earlier agreed to replace the road if it was damaged beyond repair.
Barnes County road superintendent Kerry Johnson says it could cost up to $5 million to rebuild the road. Construction would start in the spring of 2010.
The Florida company has built more than 100 wind turbines for the project, which is located northeast of Valley City.
