FARGO (AP) - An official of call center provider SEI says all 28 employees of the company's office in Chengdu, China, escaped injury from the earthquake that struck the country earlier this week.
SEI Vice President Tom Farrell, in Fargo, said the earthquake struck about 50 miles from the Chengdu office, which opened last year. He said the Chengdu building appears to have no structural damage.
China officials have said the death toll from the earthquake in the central part of the country could be as high as 50,000.
SEI, based in Oak Brook, Ill., began its call center business in 1986. Its Fargo branch opened in 1991. It has offices in the U.S. and Europe as well as China.
