JAMESTOWN (AP) - City officials in Jamestown are foregoing the traditional citywide cleanup week this year - though they're looking for some type of alternative.
Councilman Ken Schulz says that with the spring flood battle, if there was ever a year in which the city needed a cleanup week, it's this year. But he says city staff are "stretched to the max."
A committee will be looking at cleanup options that do not include using city staff and equipment to pick up material.
Sanitation Foreman Bill Snyder also has recommended that whatever cleanup plan is decided upon wait until after Labor Day, when flood-related work should be wrapping up.
