FARGO (AP) - A man convicted of engaging in a riot at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds has been ordered to serve 18 months in prison.
Mevludin Hidanovic, 28, of Fargo, maintained his innocence at his sentencing hearing Monday before East Central District Judge Wade Webb.
Hidanovic was convicted by a jury in early January of engaging in a riot while armed. His family posted $50,000 cash bond so he could be free pending sentencing.
Webb sentenced Hidanovic to five years in prison with all but 18 months suspended for five years.
Authorities said the June 24 fairgrounds riot injured at least five people and one person was struck with a baseball bat. Webb told Hidanovic such conduct was not acceptable.
