The chancellor of North Dakota's university system has postponed a meeting to discuss the University of North Dakota's Fighting Sioux sports nickname.
William Goetz had scheduled a meeting Tuesday with Standing Rock Sioux tribal Chairman Ron His Horse Is Thunder. It was to have taken place on the Standing Rock reservation in south-central North Dakota.
University system spokeswoman Debra Anderson says the meeting has been postponed, but she says the two men intend to meet soon.
UND will have to quit using the Fighting Sioux nickname and an American Indian head logo or face NCAA penalties if the Standing Rock and Spirit Lake Sioux tribes don't endorse its continued use.
