HAVRE, Mont. (AP) - A Montana jury has found a man guilty of murder and tampering with physical evidence in the death of a transient from North Dakota.
Kim Norquay Jr. of Havre was convicted Friday in the death of Lloyd Kvelstad on Nov. 24, 2006.
Court records say Kvelstad and James Main Sr. got into a fight about Christopher Columbus and the American Indian Movement during a party at the home of Melissa Snow in Havre.
Officers responding to a report of a death found Kvelstad's body. An autopsy determined he was beaten and strangled.
Main is also is charged with murder and is scheduled to stand trial in February.
Snow was charged with tampering with evidence for cleaning up Kvelstad's blood from her carpet. She pleaded guilty last year.
