BELFIELD (AP) - The mayor of Belfield says one of his goals when he ran for office was to clean up the town. He hopes a proposed new ordinance will help.
The City Council has scheduled a meeting at 7 p.m., Aug. 20 to discuss the ordinance, which covers junk and abandoned vehicles. Violators could be fined at least $25 a day.
Belfield Mayor Leo Schneider says an earlier meeting in June drew opposition. He says council members want a town hall meeting this time to help decide what people want.
Schneider says the city does not want to be unreasonable, and people would be given 30 days to clean up junk.
