GRAND FORKS (AP) - Bond has been set at $9,000 for a Grand Forks woman who allegedly exposed her two young children to the decomposing body of their 2-year-old sister for at least two weeks.

Jody Weaver, 38, the mother of Destiny Weaver, is charged with two felony counts of abuse or neglect of a child, misdemeanor willful disturbance of a dead body and misdemeanor failure to report a death. She is due back in court on Aug. 20.

The incident happened earlier this year, but Weaver was not arrested until Thursday.

Authorities said Destiny Weaver had been dead for about two weeks when Jody Weaver and her boyfriend, Clarence Smith, put the toddler's body into a plastic container on Feb. 12, loaded it into the trunk of a vehicle and took it to Pennington County, Minn. Police said Smith called them during the trip and reported the body.

An autopsy was done on the child but the cause of death was not determined. Police said Weaver told them the child was experiencing flulike symptoms.

Smith is charged with misdemeanor willful disturbance of a dead body and misdemeanor failure to report a death. There is a warrant for his arrest.

Weaver's other two children, Destiny's twin brother and a 3-year-old sister, are in protective custody, according to police.
