MADDOCK (AP) - Authorities say a fire that damaged the home of a Benson County sheriff's deputy was caused by an overheated computer tower.

Benson County Sheriff Steven Rohrer said the fire was discovered in the house of deputy Johnny Lawson in Maddock around 1:30 p.m., Friday. He said no one was in the home at the time and no one was injured.

Officials say the fire was confined to a bedroom, but the rest of the house suffered heavy smoke damage.

Rohrer said the Lawson family is getting help from the community and the Red Cross.
