CAMP GRAFTON (AP) - A National Guard unit formed to help with security at the Minot Air Force base is going through a mock base attack and conducting its first heavy weapons training this week.
The Guard says the 119th Wing Air Guard Security Forces Detachment will be training at Camp Grafton through Tuesday. The soldiers are to divide into teams for a simulated wartime base attack, using ammunition similar to paint balls.
The airmen also will train for heavy weapons firing.
The Guard says the training is to make sure the soldiers meet the standards for missile field security. About 60 full-time and 80-part-time Guard members are assigned to the security unit.
