GRAND FORKS (AP) - The Grand Forks International Airport has received a 5 million dollar federal grant for a new crosswind runway.

Airport executive Steve Johnson says right now, there is only one crosswind runway shared by airlines, cargo planes and general aviation.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the Grand Forks airport is one of the 50 busiest airports in the country, with nearly 40,000 flights per month. Much of that comes from the University of North Dakota flight school.

The runway is expected to be completed in October. The money to build it is from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
