FARGO (AP) - Microsoft Corp. has named Kirill Tatarinov to lead the Microsoft Business Solutions group, a position formerly held by North Dakota businessman Doug Burgum.
Tatarinov, who grew up in Russia, will oversee all aspects of the Business Solutions Group on Microsoft campuses in Redmond, Wash.; Copenhagen, Denmark; and Fargo, the company said. He is to start his duties Monday.
Tatarinov will run the company's Dynamics business, said Tami Reller, who was temporarily appointed to the position in March. He is charged with managing product development, marketing, sales and operations, she said.
Several people have held Tatarinov's new job in recent months. Reller, also a North Dakota native, stepped into the position to replace Satya Nadella, who joined Microsoft's Platform Services Division.
Nadella was appointed to the Business Solutions position after Burgum announced last September that he is leaving Microsoft to spend more time with family.
Tatarinov, who co-founded Houston-based Patrol Software in 1991, joined Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft in 2000. He led Microsoft's management business, and led development and marketing efforts for Microsoft Windows management technologies and products.
Reller said she will take another position within Microsoft when she finishes helping with Tatarinov's transition.
