FARGO (AP) - A Minneapolis man in town for his father's funeral was struck and killed as he walked to his mother's house, police said.

Michael Lewis Schrock, 53, died of head injuries early Monday, authorities said.

Police said Schrock, who was originally from Casselton, west of Fargo, was struck by a pickup and died about 6:30 a.m.

He had been staying at a nearby motel, and was walking in the driving lane of Fargo's busy University Drive, just below the Interstate 94 overpass, police said. An autopsy was planned.

Police said they did not expect any charges to be filed against the pickup driver, identified as Raleigh John Trulson, 22, of Fargo.

The northbound pickup struck Schrock and flung him into compacted ice and a bridge pillar, Sgt. Glen Hanson said. The pickup driver did not see the Schrock, he said. Witnesses said the pickup was not speeding.

There is a sidewalk is on the west side of the underpass, but not on the east side where the victim was walking, and it was dark at the time of the crash, Sgt. Jeff Skuza said.
