ELLENDALE (AP) - A Dickey County deputy says he is not campaigning for the job of sheriff in a recall election to oust his boss.

Dickey County Sheriff Jim Bohannon is facing a recall election on Tuesday but no one has filed to run against him.

A number of ads in the Dickey County Leader newspaper endorse Dickey County Deputy Chris Estes as a write-in candidate for sheriff.

Estes said the ads were placed without his knowledge.

Bohannon is a 26-year law enforcement veteran. Members of the Ellendale City Council and some residents started a recall drive after a dispute over a contract to provide police for the city.
