DEVILS LAKE (AP) - A jury was chosen Monday for the trial of a man and his girlfriend charged in the killing of a Wells County couple whose bodies were found in their burned rural home last April.
Aron Nichols of Fargo is charged with two counts of murder. His girlfriend, Tamara Sorenson, is charged as an accomplice in the deaths of Donald, 70, and his wife, Alice, 67, of rural Sykeston.
Authorities believe the couple were killed before their home was set on fire to cover up the crime.
Sorenson is the mother of the Willeys' granddaughter, and court records showed the Willeys and Sorenson had disagreements about the grandparents' right to visit the girl.
Nichols and Sorenson are being tried together in Devils Lake.
