SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A man from Little Eagle in north central South Dakota is charged with assaulting a federal officer on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.
U.S. Attorney Marty Jackley said Kelly C. Ward is charged in the shooting of a Bureau of Indian Affairs police officer on Sept. 10. Ward made an initial appearance in Aberdeen federal court on Wednesday.
The officer was responding to a domestic violence call in Little Eagle when he received a gunshot wound to the leg.
