FARGO (AP) - A Fargo woman staying at a hotel near New York's Times Square says her building shook when an explosive device went off in Times Square early Thursday.

"It sounded like a cannon went off," said Trish Ristvedt, who was in New York on a business trip.

Ristvedt said she called down to the hotel's front desk and was told police were in the area. She also was told to stay in her room.

"I was scared another building had fallen or something," Ristvedt said. "It was just such a big, loud thud. We didn't know if it was in the hotel or where it was coming from."

Ristvedt said she was relieved to hear no one was hurt in the explosion, which police said happened at about 3:45 a.m. in an empty military recruiting station. The blast left a big hole in the front window and shattered a glass door, twisting and blackening its metal frame.
