FARGO (AP) - Bail has been set at $150,000 for a man accused of molesting two sisters for years in the early 1980s.

Rodney Trudeau, 53, of Fargo was arrested Jan. 17, after a complaint was filed in Clay County (Minn.). Authorities said one of the victims, now in her 30s, went to police after disclosing the abuse to a therapist.

In cases involving the sexual abuse of young children, Minnesota prosecutors have nine years from the time an offense is committed to bring charges. If abuse is not reported within that period, prosecutors have three years to bring charges after the abuse is reported, no matter how long ago it occurred, said Clay County Attorney Brian Melton, who filed charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct against Trudeau.

Defense attorney Brian Toay said the case raises repressed memory issues.

"How accurate is that information … especially a child's memory coming out of a 30-plus-year-old victim?" Toay said. "I think that's one of the issues that's going to come up in this case."
