FORBES (AP) - A large wind farm on the border of North Dakota and South Dakota has gained a major corporate investor.
GE Energy Financial Services is investing $141 million in the $381 million Tatanka Wind Farm that began making electricity July 25.
The wind farm has a generating capacity of 180 megawatts, or enough for more than 60,000 homes.
Sixty-one wind turbines are located in Dickey County, N.D., and 59 are in McPherson County, S.D.
The wind farm was built by Acciona Wind Energy. Its parent company is based in Spain.
Acciona, the seventh-largest manufacturer of wind turbines, has developed wind farms in 13 countries.
GE Energy has equity in 38 U.S. wind farms.
A formal dedication for the Tatanka Wind Farm is set for Sept. 24.
