FARGO (AP) - The former president of a simulcast horse racing company says she's owed money as compensation for her time spent in prison.

Susan Bala of Fargo was convicted in 2005 of illegal gambling and ordered to serve 27 months in prison. The sentence for Bala and Racing Services was later overturned by an appeals court.

Bala has filed a motion in federal court saying she deserves money because of "unjust conviction and imprisonment." She says the compensation rate is $50,000 per year in prison.

Bala is asking for more than $71,000 each for her and Racing Services because she was in prison for 523 days.

A U.S. federal claims court has yet to rule on the request.
