Nichols' weapons trial delayed
FARGO (AP) - A federal weapons trial has been delayed for a Fargo man sentenced to life in prison without parole in a murder case.
Aron Nichols pleaded not guilty in July to three illegal weapons charges. His trial in federal court in Fargo was to begin Monday, but it's been postponed until Nov. 17.
Nichols was sentenced to two life prison terms for murdering Donald and Alice Willey. The couple's bodies were discovered in a fire of their home on a farm near Sykeston in April 2007.
Nichols and his fiancee, Tamara Sorenson, were convicted in connection with the killings, which authorities said involved a dispute over custody of the Willeys' grandchildren.
In the weapons case, Nichols is accused of being a felon in possession of a short-barreled shotgun and a machine gun.
