BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A tractor-trailer collided with a car Monday afternoon on Highway 3 in Billings, killing the driver of the car, police said.
The victim was a 26-year-old Billings man; his name was not released.
The crash happened at about 3 p.m. at Highway 3 and Masterson Circle.
Witnesses reported that the eastbound car drifted into the lane of the westbound tractor-trailer, police said. The vehicles collided head-on.
The driver of the car died at the scene, police said. He was alone in the vehicle.
The driver of the tractor-trailer and a passenger were not injured.
The crash remained under investigation Monday night.
The death raised the state highway fatality toll to 54, compared with 45 on March 26, 2006.
