Bis-Man transit to receive funds
Bismarck-Mandan Transit will receive $431,469 in federal funding for improvements to the public transportation system.
The funds were part of the FY 2005 Transportation Appropriations Bill. The funding was announced by Sens. Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan and Rep. Earl Pomeroy. Bis-Man Transit will provide $107,867 in matching funds.
"We are going to buy a para-transit bus to replace the old one, a fixed-route CAT bus, fare box and camera equipment, dispatch equipment and miscellaneous shop equipment," said Metropolitan Planning Organization director Steve Saunders. "The money is available to us now and we'll start getting requests for proposals out on the equipment."
