WEST FARGO (AP) - Bonanzaville USA has decided to change the name of its annual holiday event to again include the word "Christmas."

The event's name was change last year from "Christmas on the Prairie" to "Holidays on the Prairie."

The annual family holiday event, scheduled for Dec. 2, will be called "Christmas Memories" this year.

"We wanted to reflect on our traditions and things about history," said Joyce Yexley, events coordinator at the pioneer village and museum run by the Cass County Historical Society.

Last year, at former Bonanzaville executive director Tim Hoheisel's suggestion, the event's name changed.

Hoheisel and Cass County Historical Society President Kim Baird said the new name was more historically accurate, but the change resulted in a backlash from people who wanted Christmas in the title.

Hoheisel resigned in April. This summer, Baird said Bonanzaville's winter event would have Christmas in the title.
