FARGO (AP) - Police in Fargo say they're recommending charges against a Minnesota woman who they say falsely reported a rape.

The woman went to a Fargo hospital early Tuesday and reported that a man kidnapped her at knifepoint in Moorhead, and raped her in Fargo.

Police later that day arrested a Fargo man, but eventually decided not to charge him.

Sergeant Jeff Skuza says the report, which came from a 25-year-old Dent woman, led to significant expense.

The false reporting charge would be a misdemeanor.
