It was all about farm animal rights

I would like to correct some misleading information in a recent letter by Jennifer Reilly ("Reduce subsidies for unhealthy food," Oct. 28).

Reilly's disdain for meat and dairy foods doesn't stem from a serious interest in Americans' health, but from a belief that farm animals deserve rights, including the "right" not to be eaten.

Reilly's misnamed "Cancer Project" organization is controlled by the deceptive Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, itself an animal rights group with ties to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and other dietary extremists.

More than two-thirds of the Cancer Project's budget (and PCRM's) comes from the wealthy founder of the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida.

The federal farm bill is already complicated enough without giving save-the-cows lunatics a seat at the table.
