Norquist quote is mean-spirited

I see that Grover Norquist teamed up with Duane Sand and Americans For Prosperity at an event in Bismarck this past weekend to rally support for an initiated measure designed to cut taxes in North Dakota.

I doubt many people know who Grover Norquist is, and I doubt many people care. But they should. I have run across his name several times and am both dumbfounded at how he could be so influential in national politics and outraged at what he has helped do to our country.

But of all the mean-spirited quotes I have ever read that were attributed to him, one stands out. It is from a translation of an interview he apparently did in Mexico, and in it he essentially calls the Greatest Generation un-American and seems to gloat that they are dying:

"This (the Greatest Generation) has been an exception in American history, because it has defended anti-American policies. They voted for the creation of the welfare state and obligatory military service. They are the base of the Democratic Party. And they are dying."

I hope this quote is used against any Republican who was foolish enough to join him and Sand at the Bismarck event.
