So the Board of Higher Education insists on removing the name of Fighting Sioux as the name at the University of North Dakota? I always thought it was a compliment, that around the time of statehood that the Sioux were the most feared tribe on the Upper Plains.
Or is the Board just trying to get rid of any mention of Native American tribes for the whole state? That may be difficult as there are five tribes across North Dakota or when UND authorized statehood constitution.
Is there such a thing as investigative reporting anymore? Oh, pardon me, we do not have real "reporters" now, they just print what somebody tells them.
Seems as though a little digging into the year when the Board of Higher Education was created (think that was about 1941 or 42) there would be mention of how they came to approve that name. Or newspaper stories might have some mention.
