President Bush doing a great job

This is in response to Gordon Lukkasson's letter to the editor a while back about President George W. Bush "trying to mess up Social Security, ruin our economy, Bush's oil war, that our young people have to die so George could Bush-whack the economy of our U.S.A., so he could pacify the greedy people in the oil business here in our country," then he adds, "I hope that control freak gets impeached."

How wrong and short-sighted can one be?

We are in a world war against terrorism, whether we believe it or not. We cannot sit around doing nothing. Remember 9/11. The whole world let Hitler do what he wanted until it was too late. Dialogue with Hitler proved fatal, just like endless talk with terrorists and terrorist countries, like Iran, would be. We have to believe them when they say they are going to wipe America and Israel off the face of the earth.

As far as the Bush oil war is concerned, Lukkasson should get a life. The simple solution is to drill in our own country, inland, off our coast, in ANWAR in Alaska, where there is nothing but ice, where there are billions of barrels just waiting for us.

We have not built a new refinery since 1978. Why? Because the wacko environmentalists file frivolous lawsuits that the liberal judges approve. Also, some states have mandated different blends for different areas of our country for whatever reason. The environmentalists also are behind this.

Why is the price of gas so high? The fact is the federal government gets 18.4 cents for every gallon people pump into their tanks, doing nothing for it. The state of North Dakota gets 23 cents a gallon. Add it up.

As far as the economy is concerned, we are right around 3.5 percent unemployment, which we have not been for many years. Six percent is considered the benchmark. President Bush's tax cuts have propelled our economy. Tax cuts always work for the good of our country, but all we hear from the Democratic Party and the liberal press is gloom and doom.
