Recently, my favorite radio station has been running a lot of ads reminding us to buckle our seat belts.
This reminds me of what I saw at the two great parades I went to this summer. Mandan's Fourth of July parade and the Buggies-n-Blues parade both featured a number of law enforcement vehicles.
My brother and I were shocked to see the personnel in those vehicles not wearing seat belts. As David remarked, "Another educational opportunity lost."
We are proud that our children learned to go into their carseats without complaining and buckled their seat belts as a matter of course because they saw their parents buckle up as well.
I hope the two parades in September will feature police and firefighters alike buckled into their vehicles.
An ounce of example is worth a pound of ads.
