As the old CVSPharmacy moved out of Gateway, another pharmacy moved in.
Heritage Pharmacy recently opened in the mall, on the same day CVSmoved out, although not in the same location as the old CVS. They're located next to Mid Dakota Clinic, on the east end of the mall.
The mall had a stipulation that only one pharmacy have space in the mall at a time.
"We moved in because there are so many elderly people that live right around here and they don't want to drive all the way up to the new CVS,"said Jodi Sigler, a technician at Heritage Pharmacy. Sigler was an employee at CVS.
Heritage has two other locations in the city:one at the Mid Dakota clinic downtown, and one is in the Center for Women. Sigler said the new pharmacy employs four people full time and one part-time.
New beginnings
A couple of stores have closed or downsized in Gateway Mall; Gelato D'Italia has closed shop, apparently with plans to open a storefront in town. Miss Goody Two-Shoes moved to a smaller space next door to its old space. The Muse, a locally-owned music store, also had to recently close.
But the mainstays are staying put:Subway, Hansen's, Vintner's, Regis Hairstyles, Joy's Hallmark, Conlin's and Sears, among other stores, are all still large presences in the mall.
And manager Cheryl Hansen says to be on the lookout for two new retailers that have signed letters of intent for the two larger empty spaces available. One would be in the CVSPharmacy space, the other would be on the west end of the mall, near Sears.
