The old Dairy Queen building on 12th Street has a new tenant.
Nibbles &Brunch has been open in the building for about 10 days now, holding to its name and serving breakfast and lunch. And brunch, of course.
The new business, owned by Lavonne Jangula and Nancy Samuelson, is at 1101 S. 12th St. It's deli style, said manager RaeLynn Droog, and is all homemade cooking.
They have breakfast every day, different lunch specials and homemade soups. And they don't fry anything.
Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
CVSopens
The new CVSPharmacy on Calgary Avenue is officially open, giant inflated pill bottle and all.
The pharmacy closed its doors in Gateway Mall and opened in its new 13,000-square-foot building Feb. 22. Although the space is significantly bigger than the old Gateway Mall space, they did not need to add new employees.
The hours are slightly different, however. The store will be open an hour later on Sundays, from noon to 6 p.m.
Regular store hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Pharmacy hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Carpet store expansion
Magi-Touch and Carpet One is looking to double the size of its existing structure and to have frontage on the corner of Ninth Street and Sweet Avenue.
The business was approved to receive monetary assistance to work with an architect; the assistance comes from the COREProgram with the Renaissance Zone Authority.
The expansion could add up to 11,845 square feet on the east side of the building.
That would bring the building to a total of 26,965 square feet. It will enter the planning phases before anything is set in stone.
Key store moving
Warren's Locks and Keys will be expanding and moving from its location on Thayer Avenue to 214 E. Main Ave.
It's a move that's been a long time coming, owner Ken Hoff said.
"The Bismarck and Mandan surrounding community has grown, and so has our business,"Hoff said. "We're busting out of the seams here, and we need more room to accommodate the growth of the community."
Hoff and his wife, Melanni, have owned the business since 1993, after purchasing it from Warren Hervey, who started the business in 1971.
Hoff said he wanted to stay in downtown Bismarck, because his business has thrived there and the Renaissance Zone Authority has treated him very well.
The new space is three times bigger than the old space, Hoff said. They hope to add another employee, but Hoff was not sure when that could happen.
"It's a big move for us,"Hoff said.
The business will open in its new location on March 30.
