On Monday and Tuesday, Mandan High School and Century High School will be hosting the annual Mandan Invitational Band Festival.
Bands participating in this year’s festival are Bismarck High School, directed by Jon Baumann; St. Mary’s Central High School, directed by Bill Schmidt; Century High School, directed by Tim Fogderud; and Mandan High School, directed by John Warren.
Clinicians for the festival are Boyd Perkins, Alan LaFave and Terry Beckler from Northern State University.
Guest conductors for the festival are Craig Kirchhoff and Charlie Menghini.
Kirchhoff is professor of conducting and director of university bands at the University of Minnesota, where he conducts the wind ensemble.
Menghini is president, professor of music and director of bands at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago.
The order of performances on Monday morning at the Mandan High auditorium: Century High School, 8 a.m.; St. Mary’s Central High School, 8:50 a.m.; Bismarck High School, 9:40 a.m.; and Mandan High School, 10:30 a.m.
The performances are free to the public.
The grand concert featuring the combined bands will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Century High School gym.
Admission for the concert is $3 for students, $5 for adults, or $15 per family.
