A fire in a garage caused about $2,500 damage on Monday.
Bismarck Police Sgt. Mark Buschena said the Bismarck Fire Department quickly extinguished the fire at 806 E. Ave. B, which was reported at 4:11 p.m.
Buschena said a witness, former police officer Shawn Markovic, was credited with keeping the fire from spreading by spotting it and reporting it quickly.
A 73-year-old man, who lives nearby, may be ticketed for driving around police barricades while the fire department was putting out the fire, Buschena said.
