Apple Creek School will celebrate 130 years of operation with an old-fashioned meal and a live auction at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the school, 2000 93rd St. SE, Bismarck.

The celebration includes another milestone - auctioneer Elmer Steiner marks 15 years of auction action at Apple Creek this year.

The auction began years ago as a cake social and evolved into a pie social and brown bag auction. This year's auction items include gift baskets with themes ranging from family fun night to gardening.

Apple Creek School was established in 1878, and the white-painted schoolhouse retains the look and feel of that original school. With 58 children in grades K-6, it has an old-fashioned one-room schoolhouse feel on the inside as well.

For more information about Apple Creek School, contact Dottie Longmuir, school secretary, at 223-7349. For more information about the auction, contact Marnie Piehl at 220-2704.
