May 29 is "529 College Savings Day." The date corresponds to North Dakota's tax-advantaged 529 college savings plans, College SAVE.
The plan is one way for parents, grandparents, and other family and friends to save for children's college educations.
College SAVE, its administrator Bank of North Dakota, and the Bismarck Tribune are teaming up to provide entertainment at Dakota Zoo for the public. There will be free admission to Dakota Zoo from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
There also will be activities for children throughout the day, free hot dogs from Cloverdale Foods from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and giveaways. A grand prize of $529 for college will be given away from the Bismarck Tribune at 4 p.m.
