A new proposal would keep applications for North Dakota college presidents and the university system's chancellor secret for most of the hiring process.
The Board of Higher Education will be considering the idea Thursday during its meeting at Williston State College. The Legislature would have to approve any changes.
The bill says the university system may keep secret any applications for a college presidency or chancellor of North Dakota's university system.
The board would also be able to hold closed meetings to discuss job applications.
The information would become an open record once the board - or a search committee - names semifinalists for a job.
