sGarage sales produced some good pickings over the weekend - unfortunately, it was thieves who benefitted.
Money was stolen from two garage sales on Saturday, police reported.
The first incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. when a woman briefly left her garage to post garage sale signs. When she returned, her garage door opener and cashbox - containing $300 - were missing.
The second incident was a little more obvious. After around 4 p.m., two women approached a garage sale in progress, police reported; one woman solicited help from the person tending the sale while the other grabbed a handful of $1 bills, according to reports.
The person tending the sale saw the second woman grab the cash, police said. The two women, one in her late 40s and the other in her 20s, ran to a red car and drove off.
Police are not sure if the two incidents are related. The first occurred in the Bridgeport community in northwest Bismarck. The later one occurred on the 2500 block of Avenue C.
