The North Dakota Highway Patrol is looking for the people responsible for tossing pumpkins off an I-94 overpass and hitting a semi in the westbound lane.

Patrol Capt. Mark Bethke said the driver of the semi was not injured, but the truck's windshield was shattered at around 3:40 Wednesday morning.

Pumpkins were tossed off the 106th Street overpass about five miles east of Bismarck, he said.

Bethke said such incidents have happened in past years, but it is rare for a vehicle to get hit by the falling gourds.

Anyone with information about who threw the pumpkins off the overpass should call the North Dakota Highway Patrol Bismarck office at 328-5590.

Bethke said such seasonal pranks are not seen as funny to the Highway Patrol.

"They consider it a silly prank, but we consider it very serious and life threatening," he said.
