Two tornadoes touched down east of Glen Ullin on Monday evening.

"The first one was on the ground for a minute," National Weather Service meteorologist Harlyn Wetzel said. The first sighting was at 7:15 p.m. four miles east of Glen Ullin. The second was on the ground a mile farther east and touched down briefly a few minutes later.

No damage was reported, according to the Morton County Sheriff's Department. In other parts of North Dakota, quarter- and golfball-sized hail, wind gusts and street flooding kept several counties under watches and warnings until 11 p.m.

The severe weather was caused by a low pressure system out of southwestern South Dakota that moved north and came against a cold front that came into the region.

In Center, more than a half-inch of rain flooded streets by 8 p.m. and winds gusted up to 60 miles per hour, according to National Weather Service reports. The storm, however had passed by 9 p.m., according to the Oliver County Sheriff's Department.

Temperatures reached a high of 88 in Bismarck, 79 in Minot and 77 in Dickinson. More evening thunderstorms are forecast for today and Wednesday.

"There will be showers and thunderstorms, but probably not as severe," Wetzel said.
