Minot native and TV star Josh Duhamel has pledged to donate any winnings from his appearance on an upcoming game show to help victims of domestic violence in North Dakota.
Duhamel, who stars in the NBC series "Las Vegas," is scheduled to be part of the network's game show "1 vs. 100," which airs at 7 p.m. Friday. He said he would announce on the show his pledge to the Abused Adult Resource Center. The AARC plans to share any proceeds with other domestic violence agencies through a statewide coalition, the Council on Abused Womens Services.
The game show pits a single player against 100 other contestants, with the single player gaining money for each contestant they eliminate but losing all their winnings with any incorrect answer along the way. The host is actor-comedian Bob Saget.
Earlier this fall, Duhamel joined a benefit raffle for abuse victims with the AARC and three other domestic violence agencies in North Dakota. Through that relationship, Duhamel committed to the followup pledge from his game show appearance.
"We appreciate Josh's commitment," Diane Zainhofsky, AARC executive director, said. "He has certainly demonstrated his concern about domestic violence, and we are grateful for that."
Anyone wishing to help victims of abuse can contact the AARC at P.O. Box 5003, Bismarck, N.D. 58502, or online at www.abusedadultresourcecenter.com.
The AARC is a nonprofit organization that serves survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and families in a seven-county area in south-central North Dakota.
