Three tigers - a rare golden tabby, a white tiger and a standard orange tiger - will be able to preen and groom for the public starting at 3 p.m. Saturday at Dakota Zoo, when the tiger portion of the Jack and Joyce Schuchart Big Cat Complex opens. The complex is part of the zoo's "Make the Big Cats Roar"project.

The new exhibit features a large pool, boulders for climbing and trees for the cats, as well as a variety of viewing areas for the public. The opening day for this portion of the complex will include coffee, lemonade and cupcakes for visitors.

The snow leopard side of the project is nearing completion and is anticipated to open in mid-September. The two snow leopards are being slowly introduced to each other in their private den area and seem to enjoy each other's company, said zoo director Terry Lincoln.
