A 17-year-old Bismarck girl turned herself in to police New Year's Eve for drinking and driving, one of just two drinking-and-driving related arrests over the holiday.
Lt. Randy Ziegler said police responded to a call from the girl at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday.
She told them she had been driving around the city for several hours while intoxicated.
When police made contact with the girl, Ziegler said they found her in her vehicle on the 1100 block of East Divide Avenue, keys in her purse.
Ziegler said the girl told officers she had been drinking heavily for two weeks and needed help.
She was cited for actual physical control, he said, because when officers arrived at the scene, she was not driving nor was the motor running, but she had access to the keys.
The girl was cited with a juvenile violation and released to her parents, he said.
Ziegler said last year during the New Year's holiday, eight arrests were made for drinking and driving.
