Charges have been filed against a group of people suspected in four October burglaries in Mandan.
Mandan police responding to an alarm call at Jay's Pawn Shop early in the morning on Oct. 26 arrested Jeremy Will, 19, Neil Buck Jr., 21, and Olivia Atencio, 23. An investigation into the burglary led to evidence that Will, Buck, Atencio and others may have been involved in other burglaries.
Will and Buck were charged with Class Bfelony attempted burglary, and Atencio was charged with Class C felony accomplice to burglary. The charges are Class Bfelonies, rather than Class Cfelonies, because Will and Buck allegedly were carrying knives when police arrested them.
Will and Atencio pleaded not guilty Monday at the Morton County Courthouse, and Buck pleaded guilty.
More charges were filed in South Central District Court on Monday in regard to three other burglaries to Mandan businesses.
Buck was charged Monday with three counts of Class Cfelony burglary and three counts of Class C felony conspiracy to commit burglary. He is alleged to have been involved with burglaries at the Mandan Community Center on Oct. 24, and Tyre Mart on Oct. 23 and Oct. 15.
Buck's appointed defense attorney, Wayne Goter, said Buck wished to plead guilty to the new charges. South Central District Judge Robert Wefald asked Morton County State's Attorney Allen Koppy to prepare for a hearing today where Buck can plead guilty to those charges. Wefald ordered Buck held without bond.
If Buck pleads guilty, Wefald could sentence him or order a presentence investigation to help determine an appropriate sentence.
Will was charged Monday with four counts of Class Cfelony burglary and three counts of Class C felony conspiracy to commit burglary. He allegedly was involved with burglaries at the Mandan Community Center on Oct. 24, Tyre Mart on Oct. 23 and Oct. 15, and Subway on Oct. 1.
Will is in the custody of the Department of Corrections. His probation on a past forgery conviction was revoked Dec. 8, and he was sentenced to two years with credit for 43 days served.
Atencio was charged Monday with one count of Class C felony conspiracy to commit burglary. She allegedly was involved with the Oct. 24 Mandan Community Center burglary. Atencio is out on $1,500 cash or surety bond set after her arrest on Oct. 26.
Crystal Buck, 20, was charged Monday with one count of Class C felony conspiracy to commit burglary. She also allegedly was involved with the Oct. 24 Mandan Community Center burglary. Wefald set bond for Buck at $1,500 cash or surety.
Two other individuals have been charged in connection with the burglaries. Warrants have been issued for their arrest.
