An Army soldier from Bismarck has died in Iraq from what the military says are noncombat-related injuries.

Spc. Thomas Sweet II, 23, died Thursday in Junction City, Iraq.

He was with the 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery Regiment of the 1st Infantry Division, based at Fort Riley, Kan.

The Defense Department did not elaborate on the injuries that led to Sweet's death.
