A new job for Denis Montplaisir leaves an opening on the Mandan School Board.
Montplaisir took a new job that will keep him out of the Mandan community for the next four months, Superintendent Wilfred Volesky said. ; ;Montplaisir told Volesky he didn't feel he could commit the time that the board required and there is only a year left on his term, Volesky said.
Two message left on Montplaisir's cell phone were not returned.
The Mandan School Board meets 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Central Administration Building. The board will need to approve his resignation letter. Then they can move forward with filling his position.
The general procedure is for the board to make an appointment after it takes letters of interest from people who live in the district who would like to serve the remainder of the term.
The district had good candidates in the election in June, Volesky said, and he hopes some of them might be interested in applying.
