North Dakota might have three governor candidates.
Independent candidate DuWayne Hendrickson of Minot filed petitions Friday afternoon at Secretary of State Al Jaeger's office, seeking a spot on the Nov. 4 ballot.
He and his running mate for lieutenant governor, Dana Brandenburg of Jud, want to run against incumbent Republican Gov. John Hoeven and his Democratic challenger, state Sen. Tim Mathern of Fargo.
Lee Ann Oliver, election specialist in Jaeger's office, says she has not yet determined whether Hendrickson's petitions have the necessary 1,000 signatures.
